The Ore Mountains in the western part of the Czech Republic are getting more and more popular with hiking and cycling lovers. This region, which used to be known mainly for coal and silver mining, has managed to gain a good reputation comparable to other famous Czech mountains. But what makes this area really irresistible, is the lack of crowds of tourists. So you’ll be able to fully enjoy the beauty of pure nature.
Bozi Dar is arguably one of the best known destinations in the Ore Mountains. Its popularity is obvious especially in the winter, when it’s full of enthusiastic skiers and snowboarders from various countries. But Bozi Dar is, without doubt, an ideal place for a summer holiday as well. There are many natural attraction in the neighbourhood, for example Bozi Dar’s Peat Bog, a unique nature reserve with an educational trail. The whole area has a number of interconnected tourists trails, just choose one according to your hiking skills. You’ll find here lots of routes for experienced hikers as well as recreational walkers.
When it comes to mountain biking, the Ore Mountains are definitely the right place. No worries, most of the routes are suitable for cyclists with average cycle skills. If you’d like to try something more challenging, we recommend a trip to Klinovec – the highest mountain of this range (1244 m). Klinovec is situated only a few kilometres from Bozi Dar, but the route to its peak is actually quite demanding. You can also get there by a chair lift from Jachymov. Do you long for a real adrenalin rush? Then try the route along the extremely steep slope directly under the chair lift.
